Drip .. Drip ... Guuuuush!!!

Update Update Update!! I have so much to tell you about!

Firstly you must all recall my complaints regarding my leaking toilet - it has been leaking for about 3 months and last week they finally sent a plumber to change the damn thing. I was overjoyed: 1. I was gonna have a new toilet and 2. I was gonna have an afternoon off sitting around in my apartment while the plumber worked away. So the man shows up and gets to work while I played around on my computer... suddenly from my toilet i hear 'Waaaaaaaaa' (plumber shouting) and 'Gssshhhhhhhhh' (water gushing!!!) I ran to see what was going on but the plumber had closed the door to keep the water in - i press my ear against the door and listen to strange gurgling sounds..somebody scrambling around...swearing in chinese ... suddenly i look down and water is gushing out from under the door! My helper grabs these old blankets and starts throwing them against the door hoping that will stop the water from spreading while i frantically rush around the apartment picking things off the floor! Needless to say - within five minutes I was ankle deep in water and the whole place was flooded. The security in our block was informed of the crisis and the water supply was closed off. As we carried furniture out into the hallway my security man walked around taking pictures (apparently they have to record everything that happens in the block)! While i stared with teary eyes and wondered how we would get rid of all the water this man showed up with a hoover-like-water-sucking-device and started to hoover up all the water. Fun!

Eventually the plumber got to work again and my chinese headteachers showed up with our school cleaning ladies and helped me sort things out. Just when we thought all the drama was over my headteachers went to close one of the windows and the bloody thing just broke off its hinges and plunged down below (12 floors) into a communal garden (where cute old ladies practise tai-chi)!! While my headteacher jumped around in shock i peered out of the missing window half expecting to see a lifeless old lady. I'm joking about this now but thank god no one was hurt !! It was bloody scary! Needless to say within minutes the security man was back in my apartment taking pictures followed by the police (apparently when windows fall police are informed) .. so really and truly it was like a house party in my apartment! Woohooo... crack open the champagne! A couple of hours later my party crashers had left me and my apartment was back to normal (minus one window)! Something tells me the security man will be keeping a watchful eye on me from now on! Oh yes - i have a new pink toilet!

On Friday night my colleagues organised a dress-up house party! I dressed as a sailor-ette and did the most embarrassing walk of my life (from my place round the corner to my colleague) in my cute costume. I got into the elevator with this woman and she was giggling at me while i tried to explain by muttering 'funny clothes - haha' while pointing at my striped socks- i think she might have got the gist of that! lol! We had a really wild time and my Polish colleague impressed us all with her vodka drinking skills! Aaah those polish girls - dont mess with them!

On saturday I had an interview for a position as an english teacher in a primary school. Candace prepped me during the week and even though i felt prepared my confidence was low! I was so nervous, probably because I really really wanted the job and i was worried i would lose my chance. Anway, I DID get the job! :-) The school is really nice and the people who interviewed me seem really nice too! I wasnt expecting to have an answer right away but it was quite an informal interview and after an hour they asked - 'so do you want to work here' - me - 'YES' - they shook my hands and said 'welcome to our school!'. I couldnt believe my ears!! :-) Thank you thank you thank you my gorgeous lilly - this is all thanks to you! So new job starts in September - goodbye cursed apartment - goodbye kindergarten! Here's to new and exciting beginnings! :-)

Summer holidays start in just around 6 weeks and my lilly and I are taking the long train to TIBET!!! Its gonna be so exciting!! No plans as yet..except that we are going by train and lilly has agreed to buy a backpack! (I'm still trying to talk her into sleeping in tibetan monasteries) lol! This is gonna be an adventure!

Gangsta' Freaks!!

ZZZZZZzzzzzzzz

Saturday morning lay-in!! This is BLISS!!!! It's been way too long since my last lazy morning - no alarms - just me, my quilt, aircon and laptop :-) I plan to stay here a while!!

Had so much fun last night! Met up with the girls for a really amazing egyptian dinner! We shared these wonderful meze platters and some great main courses topped with lots of wine and loud LOUD chit-chat!!! :-) After that we headed to a club where my colleague Alex was taking part in a DJing competition and the place was wild! We did some serious dancing and met up with some of my friends from work.

I've made a horrible realisation that my life is governed by the internet. I have a pile of brand new books just sitting there gathering dust. Every day i promise myself that i'll tuck myself into bed early and do some good old healthy reading.... but before i know it is midnight and i'm still on MSN/Skype/Blogger...and as if those weren't enough to keep up with ...my HK friends are big fans of Multiply and candace has been bugging me to join for months. I finally gave in and joined this week and yesterday over dinner i was informed that even though Multiply is lots of fun..EVERYONE is on Facebook!!! SOMEBODY PLEASE DRAW A LINE!!!! Needless to say 32min ago i joined Facebook..so all of you out there...you might wanna start sending me reminders to eat and sleep every-now-and-again!

In EXCITING news - CHRISTINA AGUILERA is coming to HK!!!!!!!! Yes i'm a big fan! And this week they finally confirmed her concert in HK for 3rd July and we already have tickets!! Oooohooo can't wait!! :-D

One thing i forgot to mention in my previous post is that while catching up with people during my Malta holiday i discovered that i have many SILENT readers! hahahahahaha! So here is a special shout out to all of them, including my Uncle Robert, my nannu and nanna, and Anita!! Thanks for stopping by!! :-D

Still Me!!

It's been already 1 week since my return to HK! First couple of days were tough - I arrived monday night and tuesday was back at work feeling tired and jet lagged! My apartment was in a state of chaos - suitcases all over the place...clothes...needed to stock my fridge..clean... throw out my dead plants! lol! Also i was fighting jetlag - couldnt get to sleep until 1 or 2am and was waking up at 6am even though i could sleep until 7:30am!

I met up with Candace for a Lilly reunion! I always miss my lilly when i'm away so what better way to celebrate our reunion that a moroccan dinner and a pitcher of sangriaaaaa! woohooo! That had us giggling for the whole night! :-) After we met up with some friends at the horse races where i had a not so pleasant reunion with graham! Haaaa..what matters most is that i got my 'life partner' Candace hahahahaha! *cheeky*! The horse races are really popular in Hk and people bet heavily - of course we go for the atmosphere and cheap beers!!

Lilly Mania!! :-D

YeeHaaaa horsieeeee!! (boloh!)

On Friday Candace and I had a nice girly night - waxing, manicures and gossip - followed by dinner! lol! I was really looking forward to the weekend just so i could catch up on some sleep but trust my luck saturday was parents day so i had to work for most of the day! It was bloody boring! Yesterday we had our long awaited boat trip! We left from Hk harbour at 11am and headed for a nice clean beach far away from polluted waters. We all prepared food and drinks and spent the whole day eating, drinking and lazing in the sun! BLISS! We also swam but there were these tiny-tiny-stingy-thingies in the sea and they made your skin feel all prickly, it was weird!

The Long Way Home ...

Bonjour my faithful readers. Alas it has been a while since my last blog. I have been feeling guilty that you might all be pulling your hair out in desperation from my absence.. so I've just sat down to write this long overdue update!

The month of April has been an exciting one. I had a wonderful holiday in Malaysia for Easter so what better way to end it than another trip!! Ya i'm a spoilt bitch loL! I can never get enough holidays! After a neverending flight across the world I finally stepped down on Maltese land and was happily greeted by some very rude men at customs who gave me a hard time because of my sister's wedding gift (antique chinese chest wrapped in big suspicious-looking box). Yes... a very warm welcome! I was finally released from customs hell and landed in the comforting arms of my family! Aaaw...i'm always fighting back tears!*sniff*

I didn't even have time to feel jet-lagged - before i knew it I was dragged to the dressmaker and they were pinning a dress on me...and then i was being dragged to the beautician and then to the hairdresser..and just when i thought i was on my way home for some peace and quiet..there they were...my family, aunts, cousins all over for pre-wedding drinks and excitement!! It was all quite hazy...people were asking me questions about HK and i was sitting there trying to calculate how many hours had passed since i last slept. Luckily I did have a whole day before the wedding to catch up on sleep and recover from travelling. The house was crazy - my parents were panicking with last-minute things, people were working in the garden setting up gazebos and unbrellas, others were cleaning the house, the flower ladies were setting up their lovely decorations...and i tried to stay out of everyones way! lol! I also tried to stick up for my dad as much as possible as he had bridezilla & mother-of-the-bridezilla breathing down his back! Yes women ARE scary when they're stressed out!

6AM...wedding day... alarm rang..opened my eyes half expecting to get up and get ready for work only to realise that i was actually in my bedroom in Malta!..still trying to get used to the time-warp! Ok - forget all that - time to get PRETTY! Hairdresser...make-up artists...aaah can't i have this everyday??! It was all very frantic.. us ladies all crammed into my room and helped each other dress while the house was filled with people again - caterers, cleaners, photograpehrs, camera men... crazeeey! We posed around- My sister looked wonderful and my mum had the most amazing outfit made and she looked stunning! I was skeptical about my dress when i heard it would be green but i really liked it afterall!

Well we did make it to the church! The ceremony was lovely! One of my sister's colleagues who came from abroad for the wedding told me it was like a 'fairytale'! hehehehehe! The reception was wonderful! When we got home the house was already packed with guests. The house had a huge makeover and my parents slaved for months to fix it up to perfection. Indeed it couldnt have ben nicer! The woderful thing about it was that everybody felt 'at home' and it was a really relaxed atmosphere. Time just flew! - what with meeting up with family, spending time with friends, answering a million questions about hk! It was so much fun! Food was delicious..drinks were flowing..everybody was happy!! Towards late afternoon it was time for the sweets, and my sister and ivan had these belgian cakes brought over for the wedding and i'm telling you the guests went crazeeey! After that it was the official wedding cake together with a hilarious poem prepared by the bestman which had everyone in tears! :-) The band packed up and left but we hadnt partied enough! In came DJ Mario and the after-party got started! We kicked off our heels and did some serious dancing! It was really a day to remember! ;-)

The rest of the week was a slow run-down from the craziness leading up to the big day! I met up with friends, spent time with family, caught up on some typical maltese food and even did some sightseeing! :-) I also visited a special exhibition of the Terracotta Warriors - who would have thought - i live in China but my chance to see them was all the way in Malta! hahahaha! Of course the week simpy flew and before i knew it I was packing my bags again and saying goodbye to everyone! I don't know when I will be back but one thing is for sure - It's always nice to be home! :-)

Here are some pics of my week! More pics and videos coming soon!
